Merchants Place Syndicate

Merchants Place stands on an island site beside Foss Bridge in central York, with a return corner frontage to Piccadilly and Merchantgate and a further frontage to the River Foss. The building was constructed in about 2007, with a steel frame clad in brick with stone dressings under a slate mansard roof, a glazed ground floor frontage and undercroft parking. The ground floor commercial unit is arranged as a series of differently sized partitioned rooms with a fitted kitchen, WCs and a shower room, and has a timber decked terrace overlooking the river. Walmgate and Fossgate, known for independent restaurants, cafes, bars and artisan shops, are a short walk away.

The ground floor is let to Odyssey Attractions Limited, which trades from it as a visitor attraction. The four upper floors provide twelve apartments, all sold off on 250 year long leases which pay ground rents to the syndicate.
