Helmsley Group welcomes Wizu Workspace to East Coast House

Helmsley Group has secured a deal to bring award-winning provider of flexible, design-led workspaces Wizu Workspace to York’s East Coast House. Located at 25 Skeldergate and boasting 24,500 sq ft, this riverside workspace marks a long awaited shift for the city’s business community.

Wizu’s arrival in York is a long-anticipated move with East Coast House set to open fully in summer 2025. With a reputation for creating uplifting, community-driven workspaces across the UK, the company meets demand from businesses eager for a fresh, modern alternative to more traditional office spaces, which often have to be taken on long leases.

Ed Harrowsmith, Director at Property investment and development specialist, Helmsley Group, commented:

“We’re delighted to welcome Wizu to East Coast House; the property is one of York’s premier office buildings, offering views over the River Ouse in a popular central location. As we continue with the development of nearby Coney Street to create a go-to riverside destination, the appeal of this location is set to grow even further and create the ideal locality for the Wizu community.”

Tom Almas, CEO of Wizu Workspace added:

“York has been on our radar for a long time because, quite honestly, people wouldn’t stop asking us to come here!” he explained. “We’ve had countless requests from members and businesses who love what we do and want the same experience in this iconic city. East Coast House is our answer – offering the flexibility, inspiring design, and hospitality-led service we’re known for, right in the heart of York.”

“Our York workspace will feature light-filled private offices for teams of 2 to 100+, a vibrant coworking space, high-tech meeting rooms with video conferencing, and virtual office packages for businesses of all sizes. We’re also bringing our signature Wizu community – regular networking events, wellness initiatives, and a culture that makes East Coast House more than just an office, but a true destination workspace.”

As hybrid work models continue and demand for high-quality office environments rise, Wizu’s expansion into York caters to businesses looking for  the best of both worlds – corporate-level infrastructure with the warmth and flexibility of a boutique workspace.

East Coast House will offer flexible private offices and coworking memberships, light-flooded spaces with carefully curated interiors to boost productivity, a dedicated team with a background in top-tier hospitality and an unbeatable location overlooking the River Ouse, minutes from The Shambles and York Minster, with onsite parking.

The deal was completed with Dan Suggitt of Polestar Asset Management and Olivia McDowell of Habitec advising Wizu and James Bradley from legal firm Knights PLC acted on behalf of the Helmsley Group.
